Humanising Education through Art, Music and Movement & Rhythm in the Waldorf Curriculum -Hyderabad Jan 17

Following upon Sophia and Gareth's IRA-Learn work in India, Mark was also invited to assist as tutor for music in these Hyderabad Humanising Education workshops. http://www.asc-hyd.com/

The intention behind the Workshop

The decade gone by seems to have set such a frenetic pace for humanity that we have lost touch with our ‘humanness.’ One major cause, perhaps, has been that our lives have become robotic and we have become shackled by our dependence on technology. The children and youth of today seem to be the most affected. It is, therefore, incumbent on us to ‘humanise’ education, through art, movement and rhythm.

Humanising Education through Art, Music and Movement & Rhythm in the Waldorf Curriculum, is being conducted from Monday , the 2nd January  to Friday, the 6th of January 2017 at Prerana Waldorf School Hyderabad, India.

This workshop aims to help those who are working as teachers/educators in various Waldorf, Alternative and Mainstream schools, and would like to include this pedagogy in their classrooms. There are general as well as specialised workshops for teachers, parents and educators to understand how this pedagogy works for children from Kindergarten to Class 10, as well as for those with challenges and special needs.

The intention is also to show how the supportive creative activity in Waldorf Education will not only manifest in the physical and intellectual level but also in building up harmonious rhythms in breathing and thinking. It will also help to establish the artistic medium which is the prime realm that is to be awakened.

It is through movement that an awareness of equilibrium and stillness is established. Inner stillness is a response to bring reception and real listening in the child. The calmness helps us to trust our centre to add meaning to our day to day routines.

Music is a gift that is usually intuitive, creative and imaginative. Responsiveness to words and melody brings us close to our outer world of warmth and love which develops the sense of thought. Music brings inner peace and an unhurried environment that sets an inner calm which is reflected in the work of the student.
