Enrolment
Children are eligible to enrol from 5 years of age. Once enrolled, students are expected to uphold the school’s ethos and comply with the school’s code of conduct to maintain enrolment. Further expectations for enrolment to high school are explained at a special meeting of parents and teachers in the fourth term of Year Six.
Kindergarten
A general information afternoon is held on the last Monday of October at 4.30pm where prospective parents are able to meet the kindergarten teacher, view the children’s work and become acquainted with the philosophy of Steiner Education and the particulars of the Newcastle Waldorf School. A personal interview, conducted by a representative of the College of Teachers, then proceeds for parents wishing to pursue enrolment.
Primary / High School
Requests for enrolment in the primary and high school are usually taken at the end of each year, though special circumstances have been taken into consideration in the past. Places are subject to availability, however, the individual suitability of the applicant and their family is also considered. Acceptance is at the discretion of the School and its teachers.
Formal requirements
All enrolment applications must be accompanied by a Prospectus
Acknowledgement (available upon request or via download) signed by both parents, where
applicable. Privacy laws require all personal information obtained via
the enrolment process to remain
confidential.
All applications are processed in order of receipt and consideration is given to the applicant’s support for the ethos of the school, siblings already attending the school and other criteria determined by the school from time to time.
Waiting lists
Though children are admitted on a first come - first served basis, there is no formal waiting list. Parents wishing to enrol their children are advised to maintain contact with the School until the time for enrolment approaches.
