In 2018 a group of students from year 9 and 10 visited India to participate in a course on engines and boatbuilding. The course is run as a typical main lesson. The students participated in classees involving the thinking willing and feeling. They learnt about the ways internal combustion engines work and participate in the building of 12ft plywood boats. After two weeks they had built three boats and managed, fixed up a few outboard motors and learnt how to operate them . The students then took the boats to a lake six hours away and used them to map the area and take soundings of the lake to determine its contours.
